If you're a excellent cartoonist, illustrator, or graphic artist with superb skills and an established track record, we would like to hear from you.
Your submission should include:
Between 6 and 10 low-res images if sending via e-mail; 18 if sending via conventional mail. Web-savvy artists can e-mail us a link to their personal Web site.
A cover letter introducing yourself and telling us briefly about your career. This should inform us about your training, what work you've done, what materials you use and where your work has been published. A resumè and samples of your published work would be helpful but are not required.
E-MAIL NOTE: E-mail submissions should include a link to other online examples of your work whenever possible. Also include your mailing address and phone/fax numbers.
MAIL NOTE: Mail submissions MUST include a return envelope with your name and address and sufficient postage attached. Dial an Artist is based in Canada, so return envelopes require Canadian postage. If you don't have access to Canadian postage, please enclose international postal coupons. They are available from your postmaster.
Due to the large volume of submissions we receive, we will be unable to respond unless you follow these guidelines.

How many illustrations/cartoons should I submit?
That will depend on whether you're submitting your material by e-mail or post. If your images will be sent by e-mail, please limit your submission to between 6 to 10 examples of your work. If you opt for mail delivery, please send us 18 examples: we need to see that many different pieces, in order to judge the consistency of your work.
What kind of images should I submit?
We're interested in viewing logos, corporate branding, graphic art, illustrations, cartoons and caricatures. Please DO NOT submit cartoon strips or panels that rely on a continuing theme.
What size should my images be and should I send the originals?
If you're using e-mail to send us your artwork, each image should be sent at 72 dots per inch (dpi). If you're sending your material via conventional mail, they should be sized to fit onto standard 8-1/2" x 11" paper. DO NOT send us your originals; send photocopies instead.
What are my chances of joining with Dial an Artist?
Very slim. We don't want to discourage young artists, but we are very selective. To be selected, an artist must be a proven professional with a track record. An artist must also display strong draftsmanship skills, high quality and consistency in their work.
When will I receive a response from Dial an Artist?
Our submissions director will try to get back to you as soon as possible, providing you have met the submission requirements. However, it could take as long as ten weeks before you hear anything from us.
Do you critique the work of artists?
No. While we would love to encourage new talent, we receive too many submissions to be able to critique artwork.
